Infusion progress!!!

Hi guys,

I must say that yesterday I make my first vacuum infusion progress. For my first time I must say it was done very very good without bubbles in it or any other bad thinks ( I have not take it out yet), but I have only my question: How many hours I must leave the vacuum on? usually I left it over 6-7 hours in vacuum bag, is that ok? I hope yes because if not I fault with my first infusion progress. I attach some photos of my mold and tomorrow my infusion photo.

The part:

the mold:

I will attached more photos tomorrow

A)what the hell is that?

B) you only need vac until the resin B stages for a couple minutes. The harder the resin gets the better…lest you find that the last layer pulls up and becomes a fiberglass bubble.

This part is the rear panel of TDM 900 Yamaha bike.

Here’s my other pics:

do you think is better to do the infusion inside in oven? So when the infusion stops and the vacuum is on the oven makes better the part? (I have made one small diy oven) or when the configuration stops and take out the bag then I must put it in the oven?

you dont need an oven, whats the gel time for your resin?setup looks good

i noticed something interesting, did you duct tape the part to the tape, and then molded it from there!? wow, flat surface, sorta shiny… def would work =)

Still trying to figure out what resin you used. you said Epoxy, DOW Manu. but there billions. Trying to see what the model / name is on the can.

aluminium tape works fantastically well for that,no wax needed, strong and very sticky

I must say that I have put it to the oven and the quality it was beatiful and very strong.

Heres some photos:

Unfortunately I have some bubbles in the front of the part as you see on the last photos and I will try to fix it, if there is anybody to give me an idea I am very interesting to hear it. Now about my epoxy ur correct luisn, Dow manufactory have a huge resin products and I will ask my shop for the exactly resin model.

This part is a pin in the …, very difficult and to many curves.

xmm!!! that is a good question. I will ask.

one more question would be, how did you manage to hold the carbon into the mold?

make sure your not bridging the bag. make sure its alllll in the corners. i had the same going on. 2nd part came out much better. just this stupid resin im using SUCKS A$$

This you can manage at the beginning when you are put the Carbon on the mold. When the pump start then you are fixing all the rest. I must tell you this is the second time that I using the infusion system, the first one, was disaster.

Here’s some new photos of the product…

are those radiator gaurds for your dual sport bike?

any word on the resin?

I am just waiting to find this guy, sorry!

Yeah its what I thougt it was.

I have a street fighter build Im doing…I may want you to make me a set of those in fiberglass so i can chop them up and refit them.

We dont get many models of dual sport bikes that have those gaurds. They would look cool on my project though.

Cool

The model is Dow Manuf. 321.

Cool, with which hardner? or is that the "System? and its a pack with the hardner? Does anyone else here on the forum know how to find this…

when you buy it they give you the specific harder for 321.
