Infusion Epoxy Softening Bag Material

I just finished with a part that had leaking issues after drawing in the resin.

Before drawing the resin I got the bag to hold 7mbar with very little loss of vacuum in a drop test.

Once the epoxy started flowing through the part I got a bunch of leaks popping up. It was fairly evident that the epoxy somehow softened the bag material.

I was using Stretchlon 200 bagging film and epoxy resin. Has anyone else experienced this and what are the solutions?

I would never use a stretch film for infusion.

Thanks I’ll pick up something else.

I agree

I have been using Stretchlon 800 during the infusion process, it holds up a lot better than the 200. Temps can also be upwards of 400 degrees with the 800, so you can even oven cure at lower temps. It does start to react slightly when using slower curing epoxy resins, most likely the extended exposure time. I run a fast cure Resin Research epoxy and have no issues.
