infusion distance

Hi all,

I’m planning on infusing a 100cmx100cm (40"x40") flat panel tomorrow, but i’m wondering if I’m able to do this with only one feed line. I’ve only done small parts, and 30cm takes about 2 minutes to infuse, but slows down near the end. pot life is 120 minutes, so no rush, I just don’t want the resin to grind to a halt.
Could I use 2 layers of mesh or do I run the risk of the resin going too fast on the top and trapping pockets of air at the bottom?

lay up:

  • +45° 200 gram carbon fibre twill
  • -45° 200 gram carbon fibre twill
  • -45° 390 gram glass fibre twill
  • +45° 390 gram glass fibre twill

Hello, one layer flow media should be enough. Make a feed line in the middle, if you do not want a print through make a flying feed line.

The time for 100x100 depends from specification of resin. You have to buy resin for infusion purposes. The time of curing is ok so if you put feed line in one side of the mold then will be ok.

I already did it, indeed it worked out fine, took 20 minutes in total, first 20 inches went fast, after that it was a constant speed of about 1 inch per minute
