Infusion across the grain

I’d like to try my first infusion

The panel is 1600x500 with a single layer of 300gsm uni with the grain running along the 1600
A single layer of 80gsm plain glass

Is it too far to infuse the long distance ? Or would it be better to lay a spiral along the 1600 and infuse across the 500 ?

I’ll use flow mesh and bleader , or would peel ply be better ? ( prefer not to)

I would infuse from the middle to the outside. 1600mm are too long for standard infusion epoxis.
For the layup I would recommend peelply, perforated release and flow media or a combi product like compoflex.
For the evacuation side I use MTI hose and for resin destribution I use Blade Runner( we have “some” in stock:rolleyes:)

Thanks

Blade runner ? Is that like a braided hose that goes on top of the stack ? I presume across the 600 ?

Take a look at our homepage
Blade Runner

Do you have any of this blade runner line available? Or better yet, where can I purchase it in the US?

Hello,

yes we have it available. But til now not in the US. I think we will have some in stock at end of January.
Standard it comes with a 20mm spiral inside, but we think we will sell it also without spiral that customers with smaller parts can place a smaller spiral inside.
With its 24/20mm spiral it is designed for big parts like wind turbine blades, boats and other big parts.

Are there any suppliers in the UK that you can refer? I’ve got a high volume project and this could save me time. I’d be interested in the cost, even if I had to import it (I often have to purchase outside the US)

Hi, contact John Keating at PSG. He can give you a quote and all details. If not let me know.
You can ask alternative at German Advanced Composites, I am not sure but he might have few samples.
