I was wanting to infuse a carbon flat panel and using a plastic sheet against the mold as a low skill clear coat. I do a search on plastic sheet supplies and there are hundreds of different products I have no Idea where to begin. Lots of these seem awesome with UV protection and impact scratch resistance. I can easily get lexan and from other posts it seems like resin melts and bonds to it. I was wanting the thickness to be about .030 in thick. Would I have any problems melting through the lexan with vinyl ester resin? I was also looking at Urethane seeing as how that’s what most clear coats are made of. I’m guessing you would need to prep it correctly with scotch brite or soda blast for a good bond. Has anyone had any experience with this?
Kind of confused on what you’re going for here. Do you want the plastic to adhere to the carbon just as UV protection? Is this panel going to be out in the sun getting direct sunlight? Why not just stick with the vinyl ester resin since those can handle the heat and punishment?
