I have a resin with wich i do wet lay up that in numbers is suposed to be equal to the resin of the prepreg i am using, but the end results are way way worse .
So i was thinking to try to do infusion with this one…because maybe is the volume fraction that causes the bad results… the part will be around 30 cm so the resin will not have to travel a long distance.
But the resin i plan to use is not for resin infusion … has anyone had experiences with something similar?? …
I want to this in 2 situatuons …carbon fiber and balistic kevlar
What is the viscosity?
i have used normal resin, poly resin for small parts before, for example 40cmx 15cm panels and had no problems. resin will wet the cloth and infuse it like infusion resin unless it is very thick (high viscous) resin. never tried the bigger parts with normal (non infusion) resin. Best way is to determine just try it, infuse ur part with resin.

It only depends to the resin. What viscosity does ir have? You can get nearly every specification of a prepreg resin in an infusion resin.
The viscosity of the one ‘‘flexible’’ i intend to infuse with is 2500 mpa.s for the resin and 13 for the hardener and the other resin the rigid one has resin viscosity 940 mpa.s
Pretty high. The general purpose laminating epoxies and polyesters that I use are about 750-1000cps,and I wouldn’t try infusing with them. Maybe try a test piece, but I would be surprised if it works. I would certainly be expecting pin holes.
But then, infusion surprises me in its versatility everyday, so you never know!
If you heat it up to 35-40 Celsius it should work, but you have to take care of the pot life.

Coming from an ultra beginner, I would not recommend it. If you find my posts you will see all my struggles when not using infusion resin. I wasted so much cf and spent so much money on different polyester and epoxy resins just to have 0 results.
right, you should have lot of experience to do that. If you want to start with infusion buy a infusion resin. defenitly cheaper than trying to infuse with the hand laminate epoxy.
