I have been doing well with envelope bagging and would like to start transition into infusion. In the future I plan to re tool and build flanges on my molds. However for the time being. Is infusion possible in an envelope bag? My main consern is will resin get pulled behind the bag between the mold and the bag? Also if I put the resin from the pot line in on the part itself will I have any issues from it
Thankyou in advance. I also am trying to post pics via cell phone but am not having much luck
Have done this before, it works fine. The biggest drama is having to trim the fabric flush with the mould so that you avoid both fabric overlap onto the backside of the mould, and fabric dropping short and leaving you without an edge.
You will get resin on the backside of the mould, it’s just something you need to accept with envelope bagging and infusion. If it’s that big a deal, you can run some bagging tape around the edge of the mould and section it off from the part you are infusing. As you can imagine, this can cause more issues than it’s worth.
Print through from your through-bag connector/feed spiral will depend on the resin you are using and how much time you give it to cure. As always, epoxy will shrink less and be less noticeable. It’s a good idea to leave the part in the bag for a few days, or ideally post-cure.
