info resin : momentive EPR L1100 + EPH 4909

Hello all, someone has tech data sheet of momentive EPR L1100 resin with EPH 04909 (4909) hardener? It’s a very fast hardener, using °C to build helmets.
The shop where I got it hasn’t data sheet…I know only it’s a very fast resin, about 15-8 min @ 60-80°C.
I use it on my RTML test mold

someone can help me?

I think the best is for you to drop a e-mail to the fabricator.

I couldn’t find any technical data sheet in their site for that resin.

Have your self a look.

I think 4909 is an invention of the middle man, not Momentive.

I’m looking for a data sheet…I know that L1100 is momentive, EPH 4909 is sicomin…but I can’t find nothing.
The shop where I got it says me that EPH4909 has replaced EPH05043, that is used to make helmets.

EPH 04909 is also Momentive, and more correctly, is Epikure 04909.

Which very probably is a fast hardener for the 04908 system, which is an infusion resin with long geltime.

5043 I am not familiar with, but again a Hexion code (now Momentive).

Momentive is abandoning products like crazy, even LBA / FAA certified products, so the story of your supplier seems reasonable.

If you can source Sicomin products, try their SR8100 / SD8822 or 8824 product. (also see the difference in product codes)

Thanks Herman. I see SR8100/SD8824, it’s interesting, but a question…for this resin, cure time is 24 h room temperature, + >5 h @ 80°C. And if I infuse/inject into a hot mold (I can heat it from room temperature untill 90°C), what is the time for cure the part? This is a my doubt. I’m trying to do small pieces with rtml, for example for a dashboard I have about 3 min of injection (but I have problems with mold distorsion, then with a heavier mold I can reduce this time.)
What do you think about SR8500 resin?
I have also see SR 8500/SZ8525, (10 min @ 100°C, 114°C TG), but I don’t know now the window time before it gel.
I’m building my little injection machine, so I will be able to mix the resin during injection

If you infuse in a hot mould, I would definately use a slower system (SR8100/sd8822) or indeed the SR8500/SZ8525

For the last one I do not know the geltime at 90C. Do you have the datasheet?

until now I have before infuse, and after injected with a mold temperature of 40°C, before wit RIM235+RIMH233, now with EPRL1100+EPH04909, then increase up to 80/90°C.
I have just found the datasheet

It’s very interesting for inject. I see that this resin has a high viscosity (4200 mpas) and them mixing viscosity @25°C is 960. I think that with a higher temperature viscosity decreases.
I will ask this resin to my supplier…resin isn’t a problem, I don’t know if it has also the hardener.

Ps…Herman, have you got info for my pm of VE gelcoat?
