I want your opinions on what supplies to order

I am bagging some parts and infusing others. They are carbon fiber parts for interior parts in cars. So far I have only used polytester resin so far.

  1. Which resin to use Polyester or Epoxy resin?

  2. What kind of mold release wax, I have been using Partall but I dont like how difficult it is to buff off. What do you guys use. I always use PVA, I used the partall wax once with no PVA it was a difficult release.

  3. What kind of resin is best for infusion.

  4. What is your final finishing process for the part, buff only? clear coat ?

Im trying to get my process down to a exact science. your help is very appreciated

Infusion Epoxy

Depends on your process, you can use a semi perm like freekote, aqua shield…, but they will not work in combination with PVA. You might also have problems when using gelcoats with disolvent like the PU IMC I use. The disolvent may damage the wax shield and no demolding is possible.
I use priming wax in combination with sprayed PVA

An epoxy resin espacialy for infusion, if you want to make interior parts be sure that your glass transition temperature will be higher than 80°, better 100°

The clear coat saves the part from UV light. If you have a perfect mould surface an spray the PVA you will have a perfect part surface. I use PU in mould coating, it is chemically the same than clear coat so that I do not have to clear coat my parts. You can wetsand and buff the part for a perfect finish.

What is the PU that you use in your mold instead of using clear coat?

I see alot of people checking out the post but only one person has replied( thanks ) but I would like some more input.
