I need help wrapping my A-B--C pillars

Hey guys. I’vee been practicing my carbon fiber skills in the summer heat.

I pretty much have my infusion process down solid but I am trying to do some little projects here and there and I need some help.

I have already torn down my c pillars, sripped the fabric and sanded them with 80 grit. I wannt “wrap” them in carbon fiber. I have already tried one attempt to do this and was very disappointed in the results.

I put the parts in the sun to help them cure and these air pockets formed underneath the carbon. I tried to save the pillars but it came out looking like crap. So I stripped the bad carbon and wanna try again.

Because I am doing an overlay I was thinking of using NO vacuum pump. is this a bad idea?
Another reason I didn’t want to use the vacuum pump was, the pillar is obviously not a srong material, Its a super thing plastic. I think if i do an “envelope” style wrap on the pillar The pillar will likely collapse and twist.

What do you think? how should i do this? ANy links to DIY? any instructions? help please.

Try looking around this site and you’ll find all the info you need. (Love from TET)

I didn’t write this unhelpful post (above) TET did. I’ll probably now get barred and for what?
Thankyou!
Evodelta.

since its a overlay for a cosmetic part you will be best to not use vacuum, you will get much better results just laying the materials over the pillars

done ever put drying parts in the sun, it makes them dry too fast and then they gas. That is whith poly and VER. They maintain that heat during the cure and could cause it to warp or majorly shrink
