has anyone tried huntsman high performance sealer? Dick hewett from northern fiberglass says it amazing stuff. I think I will try it soon. anyone got any opinions?
Sealer… does it replace wax?
How much is one quart? Does it work on epoxy molds?
No, sealers are used seperatly then a wax. sealers will fill in microscopic pours which is one of the biggest reason why parts will stick to a mold. sealers are a air curing resin that fill these pours. It is a very important step to use with semis, and can also be used with waxes. The more you sand your molds and rebuff the more porus your mold will become. sealers work with any gelcoat/surface coat and solid laminates. I am getting a quote from northern tomorrow for much this stuff cost. there are many other brands that are availible, I suspect this stuff will be more expensive then average
$350/gallon
Is this the stuff;
RPRSHPS-1G RenShape Hi.Perf. Sealer 1gal ?
yes, renshape is a product line of huntsman, which was originally vantico. I am unsure of that item number, but is probally right.
hoj; I checked with my supplier it’s $340 gallon. One of the top composite companies here in Indianapolis uses it. I wonder what is so good about it?
from what dick told me it does an amazing job sealing molds. he even told me about a guy that would machine solid carbon for a tool then use this to seal it. it would fully seal the laminate and leave a really shiny surface. its suppose to be much different then the average sealer. I probally will try it soon and give a review. theres a spec sheet on northerns site. $340 is the same price northern quoted too, I just try not to put exact price quotes here.
