I’ve bagged before but never infused. This is the setup:
female mold, 2 layer fabric, 1/8" vinyl core, two more layers fabric, bagging materials. A typical cross section is more or less a half sphere and I want the core to go from edge to edge. How do I get resin to the outside laminate?
Core used with infusion should be perforated to allow the resin to reach both skins of the laminate.
perforated and sometimes scored core. I have even taken a ruler and a pen, and made indentions in the core to allow resin to flow along those channels. 3/16" holes ever square inch or 2 should work.
The basic trick is to generate slightly more flow on the bottom side, and perforate the core. Instead of perforations you can also use scrimmed foam, or double cut versions (cuts from both sides, intersecting)
Extra flow can be generated by lightly scoring the foam, or press chicken wire into the foam. These indentations make a huge difference.
Also, use a very high vacuum, so possible dry spots will disappear.
