How did it get both side smooth like this part? and this thick?
Well…thickness is just how many layers you put on. Depending on what the is, it might be 1 layer of CF, and a few thick glass layers. I’ve seen a 10" thick composite already. Yes, it’s freaking heavy.
As for the smoothness. Could be a damn good bagging, could have a caul plate on the non-tool side, could be closed molded, or could have been sanded down. Obviously it was painted on the back…which would hide the sanding, and maybe…THE GLASS!!!
do do doooooo.
Looks like a overlay on poly or abs. That would explain the “thick” look.
I say it’s an overlay
The seller sell this for $90 a pair, $90 is too little $$ for that much of work. I am guessing it’s close mold to yield that production cost.
is that a bumper shield for your exhaust? It is overlayed over plastic that is why the thickness. These are probally made in China so that is why the cheap price
It’s not too little when that garbage is made in China with crap materials by people in crap working conditions, and cranking these out in large amounts.
I agree with TET there - fricking racks me off!
Looking at the weave, there is no compression, just layed up.
I doubt this part has the volume to warrant outsourcing.
