An Autoclave exerts higher than atmosphere pressure inside the pressure vessel. The part, under vacuum or vented to atmosphere has a lower differential of pressure consolidating the laminate inside the bag. Heat is added to cure the epoxy or other matrix. Cooling depends on the cycle you want. The effect would be a low void content, high fiber volume fraction part.
