how do they make the carbon fiber thread

I read on some sites about the silca thread that is carbonized and sent to weavers.

where can I read more details on how the threads are made?

the process in which the thread is treated?

the different types of thread used?

I wish I had a abetter memory to discuss this subject more. sorry all…

As per the last link…
PAN and Pitch materials are used as the precursor.
Spun into filaments.
Baked.
Cooked.
Serv…er…I mean treated, and wound onto spools, normally in groups of fibers, called tows. ANywhere from 1000 to 48000 filaments per tow.
Then it is weaved, etc

i finally had the time to read this. Is there anywhere i can find more specific information? I am looking for some more details

I say google or Wiki it. I"m sure there are some good resources out there.
Gutowski and Advani have several books on CF manufacturing, i’m sure if you want to read a textbook on it, that is the way to go.
