I recently had to repair a seibon tailgate for a toyota supra that was damaged in transit. It was clearly made of one layer of carbon and the rest was fibreglass.I was suprised to see that the part was not infused but just seemed to be hand laid, chopper gun fibreglass even on the rear of the outer face.I thought they at least infused the top of their parts then built up the thickness with fibreglass.
also when I removed the cracked gel coat the twill fabric seemed to be dry and the fibres could be moved about as if they had not been wet out at all.Any ideas ?

Seibon is absolute garbage. The only thing they’re good at is spraying clear coat.
Their parts use CSM or chopper gun.
ouch! i can’t believe shops sell their hoods for like 1200 euros here… and when i tell people that seibon is chinese garbage, they are really surprised. what can i say, promotion pays off…
Seibon manufacturing process is pretty sad. They manufacture a fiberglass hood then they will overlay the surface with carbon, resin and then clear it. It is the only way they can make them with not that much surface defects. There is really only one mass construction chinese hood company in the import markert. www.aitracing.com ViS and just about all chinese manufactures use overlay method to manufacture
