Can one of these be made out of PVC pipe and end caps? Should it have a shut off valve on it? Any plans for something inexpensive?
The harbor freight paint pressure pot is probably the easiest to buy it’s only 39 bucks and all you have to do is switch out the pressure gauge for a vacuum gauge.
This one has a pressure regulator on it… wouldn’t that get gummed up and plugged with resin?

This is the pot I use for my resin trap. You hook up the vacuum line from your mold to the non-regulated port. In fact, you don’t even need the regulator.
The HarborFreight pressure pot it is I’ll just remove the handle valve thing. Where can i buy a vacuum gauge for not much cash?
Funny, I was looking at Airtech’s website… their pressure pots look almost identical to the harbor freight ones… just a different color from what i can see.
I took a couple of your guy’s advice… I purchased a Robinair 15600 vac pump today. I won’t be ready to use it for a couple weeks though.
Its pretty easy to make a vacuum pot out of an old propane cylinder. Only cost is for the fittings, and if it gets contaminated with resin then just remove the fittings, and get another cylinder.
Cheapest VG I could find online was at joewoodworker

I made my vacuum reservoir out of ABS and caps. Works well and cheap. Also got the Robinair but the 15500 model. Hardest thing I encountered was finding a fitting to go from the Acme thread to the NPT thread. Ended up having to get a local machines shop to retap a NPT fitting for me. Other than that any 1/4 NPT fittings work well. I expect to be doing my first infusion test in a month (Honey says holidays ((boat trip)) first. Eventually I’m leading up to infusing a 31’ boat hull!

12 bucks. And buy some carbon while your there. They have the best price around on carbon fiber anywhere I’ve seen.
