Hitco is part of SGL which BMW owns a majority of, if not all the stock by now. SGL makes carbon fiber and Hitco makes carbon fiber parts. They make everything from F-35 parts to carbon brakes for F1. Some of the manufacturing methods they utilize are hand layup with laser projection assist, hot drape, AFP/ATL (Viper and Charger’s), and more. As you saw they have claves but also do OOA too.
The future of aerospace manufacturing is with AFP/ATL. Well they have been here since the 70’s but now the civilian aerospace market is finally accepting composites as it’s major building material so the number of machines producing parts has never been higher. If you get yourself a AFPM you will have customers kicking down your door.
I’m really thinking about switching careers to C/F manufacturing. Just love the stuff. Thanks for all the abbreviated words. All kinds of awesome manufacturing terms!
Anyone on here worked there?
