High temperature releasing agents?

Hi guys I need some timely help.

We are working with a high temp (resistant) resin, and are having trouble with normal modes of release agents in our test strips.

What material can be used for a release agent that can survive ~250 F* for the curing process?

Any experienced suggestions from anyone out there?
Suggestions or leads to info dealing with this topic?

Thanks for any help

google frekote

Most semi perms work at high temp.

Thanks guys
I’m looking into the freekote 815nc ~275F* now
Any other solutions to speak of that are worth mentioning?

Thanks for the help passing along info

Not really. Frekote is the best answer. We just switched from another semi perm to Frekote. Night and day difference. Really good stuff.

I use 55 and 700 for things up to 750f. Some things however, I have had bad luck with, using any release. Silicone, and TPU on a shallow drafted top-hat looking mold. Besides that, always a good release from VER, Epoxy, and thermoplastics.

I am guessing I would see a major difference using Frekote versus my Meguiars relase? :stuck_out_tongue:

So many different versions of it though, I do not use an autoclave though so I guess that narrows my search down but still, they make so many different revisions!

make sure you seal your mold before adding release agent. Freekote makes a couple different sealers

I never use their sealer for Al and Steel molds here…have you had experience doing composites with/without sealer?

Were doing a short run job using Duratec primer as the mold surface. So far we’ve pulled 5 parts, each 3/8" thick, no sealer, just frekote. Mold still looks perfect.

all FRP molds I seal atleast twice berore applying release, more on molds that are old and porous. Glass and metal you dont usually need to seal, but if you are be pulling many parts or need the surface high slip its a good idea to. I dont use Freekote anymore I like Axel brand much better.
