high temp resin

Hey guys,
I’ve been working on mostly cosmetic stuff and using SB-112 for my resin. But one of my customers is requiring a high temperature piece to be done and it needs to withstand like 600*F (brake calipers)

any good recommendations for a high temp resin?
also any good price efficient alternatives to SB-112 ?

thanks

Unless it’s touching the rotors, it won’t get to 600*. There are several high temp epoxies out there. However, not only do they cost a lot, they also need to be cured at pretty high temps.

Resolution EPON 862 with Ancamine 2349 curing agent can withstand pretty high temps. I use it with brake ducts and turbo shrouds. It cures at room temp too. Joel at AVT sells it. It isn’t too expensive either.

Player… check out BJB Ent. in the materials section sticky…but 600* I doubt it unless maybe autoclaved CF PP.

like TET said, the resin needs to be cured at the service temp that it will likely see. 600 is alot though

check out compositesworld.com and look at the sourcebook info. They normally have lists of products, and who sells them, I’m sure they have high-temp epoxy listed.

yea i just started at 600* to be safe

but calipers arn’t supposed to get above a few hundred (sub 300*)

but thanks for all the point outs…and yea i need something that cures at room temp :frowning:

i’ve been looking around quite a bit and 350 degrees seems to be around the max I can find. Looks like pre-preg would be a good option. Also something called cynate resin? looks to be another option? cant find a lot of info though.
