My latest RC project is 33% (of full scale) aerobatic airplane. I’m gonna use a 80cc 2 stroke and the lighter the plane the better. I want to make a LW exhaust, Ti header going into a carbon tuned pipe. I’m not really sure what the temps will be but i’ll find out, anyway does anyone sell a high temp resin in relativly small quantity (gallon) for this application. obviosly whatever type of resin it is i will have to be able to prosess it with conventional tools. however,i can make matched metal molds for compression if needed. thanks
depending on actual temps in the pipe…
One will need to heat cure, or at least post cure at a high temp to reach a good service temp. Something like BMI, which will be good at least till 400f service, will have to be cured at 375f. Many thermoplastics will work, but again, their process temps are ABOVE the service temp (ie: PSU, PES at 650f, and PEEK at 720f.)
If you can get the temps, then you can start looking from that point. If you find somthing that only requires a post cure, I’m sure if you get the right materials, you can post cure in your oven.
