Hi from far away

Hi guys,

Living in Durban South Africa, my interests are generally outdoors and engineering of all types. I’m a mechanical engineer by profession. I spend my evenings messing around in my “man cave” and generally build parts for my off-road bikes. I ride and race a KTM200 and love it. I am here to learn from all the wonderful posts about composites and may find some very useful applications for it in my tinkerings. As I said I am an engineer, but having limited design experience in composites means I can always learn more and will be furiously reading this site. I generally work with metals in machinery design and have the abilities (and I enjoy) doing stress analyses by various means on this. I have played around a little with anisotropic properties in FEA and long-hand calcs before, but long ago, and I would like to learn a few tips and tricks on this as well as regarding anything extending further than my limited experience of basic vacuum bagging of wet lay-ups at home.

Thanks for a great site and I hope we learn from each other (More likely to be a 1 way street TBH )

Hey folks, crickets here. Did I offend anyone. Quiet here methinks, let’s get some thermal runaway going and fire things up a little.

I am sure that no offence is meant but traffic, or rather posts, do seem to have dropped in the last few months.

Use the search facility there is very good information which may help understand any problems that you encounter, this site has been an invaluable resource for me especially two years ago when I was having great difficulty making a certain part.

hey man, I didn’t ask any real question so am not too worried about a tech response - and no offence has been taken at all.

Just a mere tongue in cheek comment to get traffic going and meet the members here.

Thanks for your response, I have indeed been reading many forum topics and am enjoying the knowledge available.
