Help!!!!!!!

I under catalyzed my gel-coat. Oversight’s a mofo.

Anyway, anyone have any ideas on how to save it? I was thinking of laying up a couple of layers of 'glass to generate some heat. Think that would work?

The thing is: I don’t want to have to try to clean all that gel off. And I’m not sure if it will cure enough over the course of a day or two. Or will it?

RAPID RESPONSE IS A PLUS!!!

put it out in the sun, that will generate so heat, only for like 20-30 minutes. then take it out. That should heat it up enough to get it to cure

Did the same thing a few days ago…dohhhhhhh. I mixed up another batch of gelcoat, and brushed it onto the first coat trying to brush it into the first coat. Then after it had hardened laid up a layer of waste pieces of glass over the whole sorry mess, and the next day popped it out of the mould and threw in the bin.

If you cant afford the time to do this then clean off what you have already with acetone, rewax your mould and start again. Its just not worth messing around trying to get uncatylised gel to cure, as it probsbly wont fully, and you will have wasted even more time.

Everyone has done that. The above responses works but I have gone ahead to save students projects by going ahead and lay up the part with a hotter batches of resin. The parts still came out great.

Twill: I set it out in the sun for 30 mins…it cured fine!!!

Werk: I’m glad to hear that I can just lay it up hotter. That’s what I thaught, but wasn’t sure.

Thanks for the responses guys!!!
