Hey all,
I’m just about to finish my new original designed spoiler. and was thinking about my next project for my car. i chose this front bumper:
(link came from http://www.streetbeatcustoms.c…html)
it’s not available in the Philippines, hence i don’t have a plug (again). in my current project that i’m finishing, i didn’t bother to make a mold for the reason that i’m only making 1 spoiler wing, and that making a mold would double the working time. so, i went straight to making the plug as my final product.
during the plug creation, i had a hard time because everything didn’t not end up flat and smooth all over (which is not a surprise). as of the moment, i’m still body filling the whole thing up and sanding everything smooth. i don’t have grinder tools and just have a hand tool cutter and handy dandy sand papers. all’s taking such a long time to finish just for 1 spoiler. lol!
hence this is my dilemma: i want to make a mold as to ensure myself of a smoother fb bumper. BUT i don’t have a plug and don’t want to make one to shorten the working time.
the reasons for doing such a thing:
- i dont have a plug / copy of the bumper im making
- i dont want to create a plug
- if i make a plug, i’d rather make the plug the final thing.
- it takes longer to do a: plug -> mold -> finished product; and it’s more tedious
- using a mold ensures a smoother finished bumper (less bondo and sanding)
- i’m just making 1 bumper
- i’m crazy enough to try
gurus, any advice you can give me? do you think this is even a good idea? pls share.
it’s funny to think that i’m going to make a mold out of nothing. LOL!
