Helmet Visor

After tons of problems this is my first successful carbon infused part. Pictures taken right after demoulding. No surface preparation or corrections. It has matte finish because mold was made from original matte part. It is made via resin infusion. Enjoy

it looks really nice
amazing detail, do you have any photos of the mold and original?

what materials did you use?

I’m still playing with vacuum bagging, so still a while to try any infusion

BTW, what pump do you use?

Its a carbon fiber/fiberglass to save money. I have 4 junk carbon visors so I dont want to test it full carbon or carbon/kevlar.

I use nothing more than fridge compressor. Im able to pull 29" with it.

Original part and the mould…

Nice!!! I can tell from the shape what a pain this part is…
Did you tinted black the resin?

Thanks. Resin has its original very light green tint. Very hard to see on part.

Yeah I see what you mean but I couldn’t make out the fibers in the two main corners and I thought that it was filled with tinted resin because it’s too narrow for the fibers to conform.

You can see heavy 1600tex carbon roving in four spikes. Of course you can also see bridging in tight corners, where the areas were filled with resin during infusion.

Yeap, that’s it, I think it’s the only way for such tight corners. Great result!

What did you make the mold/flanges from (the red ish material under the original part)???

Did you use any spray glue? What kind of flow-media do you use?

cheers

Michael
