hello from the uk

hi every one just thought i would say hello as im new here. i have never done composite work but im going to give carbon fiber a go very soon as im waiting on the delivery. cant wait , very looking forwerd to it. As a biker, i love carbon fiber and iv spent way to much on it in the past so getting my creative hat on and see how far i can push this would be awesome. I think il be good at it, but lol wel see very soon :D. anyway im planning on making a few bike parts, im thinking my first project is going to be a r6 seat cowl made from a cast from mine at the moment. any guidance would be very helpful on this. im planning three layers of wet lay carbon with epoxy resin and one being the last one fiber glass, then vacuum bagged. as it stands at the moment dont own a vacuum pump so im going to use my hoover :rolleyes2:. i have got all the vacuum bagging the, peal ply, release film, gum tape and breather fabric. what do you think?

a hoover is NOT going to work man! you need a proper pump, you can make one from an old fridge cheaply, google it

Yeah a Hoover won’t do it, I’m starting out too, just starting to get some good parts now using resin infusion, keep an eye on eBay for pumps, keywords are javac, robinair, Dosivac, I was lucky enough to get a good pump for £100. Good luck!
