Hello from Charleston, SC

Hello everyone,
My name is Ben Rennison, i’m a metrology expert here in hot and humid Charleston, SC.

I am here to begin conversations into techniques to enhance the use of 3D scanning and, CF production and analysis techniques. I’m still somewhat of a rookie, but hey you’ve got to start somewhere.

Thanks,

Ben

Welcome Ben, not sure how many people here are utilizing 3D scanning, I know Rotorage and I do.

We use a Faro CMM, Handyscan & white light technology at the shop to either reverse engineer or copy something. Most of the models are done in either Rhino or Solidworks and we use Geomagic for surfacing.

What type of experience do you have on the 3D side?

I have access to a Faro although we use it for inspection and not reverse engineering. Quite expensive CMM’s I must say.

Agreed…bummed on the price of these things, but it is what it is…if you have enough scanning work than it is worth having.
