Greetings from Portugal

Good afternoon,

my name is Rodrigo and I have this idea about getting into lacrosse equipment making. Since Lacrosse equipment needs to be light, resistant and durable what better to turn to than composites.

Since I’m new to all this, I hope to spend some (long) hours digging, reading and absorbing all the knowledge I can from these forums, and every time I run into a problem I hope I can find the solution here.

Regards,

Rodrigo

Bom dia Rodrogo, good luck with your new venture, can you point me in the direction of any composite material suppliers in Portugal please, thanks Peter.

Hey Peter,

here is what I’ve found out so far.

dinissantos.com - Sells about everything you need for building molds and carbon fiber parts (except for vacuum bags, vacuum pumps…) It’s near Coina (margem sul)

ciclovaldemiro.com - I know for a fact that he works with CF somewhere up north, I haven’t talked to him but he might know where to buy stuff.

If you know any other places tel me.

Rodrigo

Rodrigo, I am trying to find out whether it is viable to start selling dry composite materials in Portugal as a sideline to my main business interest. That’s why I asked, just trying to check out competitors and availability of stock as I have struggled to find suppliers for my own needs there.

I am hoping to be based near to Sintra, to start with, as I have a lot of family in that region and had so far struggled to find any suppliers with the exception of SGL carbon, who took over Fisipe - fibrás sintéticas de Portugal S.A. Regards Peter

Peter,

I e-mailed Fisipe inquiring if they have those sort of products but unfortunately they never got back to me. Anyway I’m going to stop by Dinis dos Santos and have a look around and talk to them regarding my project and see what products they have to offer and at what prices. Maybe we can meet up somewhere and talk a bit about your work and competition. I’m in Lisbon every weekend and can drop by Sintra any time.

Regards,

Rodrigo

Rodrigo, I am between the UK and Portugal at the moment. I have a few months of work left here in the UK before relocating there and setting up a workshop. I have been trying to search supplies of materials and consumables for the last few months in Portugal and it is not as easy as getting what you need in the UK and that concerns me slightly, hence the importation and retailing idea.

if you want to contact me off this forum then email me at oronero100@gmail.com and we can continue corresponding without filling these pages up. I am planning on a trip over in 6-8 weeks time to investigate matters a bit more with regards to taxation and sorting out my ‘bilhete de identidade’. I have so many questions to ask my cousins about various ‘ins and outs’ of running a business there as only so much can be found out by searching on the internet, regards Peter

I Rodrigo and Peter.
Im from Oeiras, side by side with Sintra. On dinis santos you found
some material. For exe. They have cf 300g (±) in plain for 30€. In portugal is not easy to
find twill fabric. They have some kind of tape in roll of cf, fg or kevlar.
Is possible to get there gelcoat or resin (iso, epoxy, poliester, etc)
They have some stuff but now with this financial crise, there no are so many bayers.
But any way, we dont have many suppleyrs to sale smalls parts.
In Sintra there is a supplyer that dont answer to emails and when i go
there i never find someone to talk with me( maybe t say me that im not good
to buy there produts).
By ohter side you have nice people on dinis that try to help you on your
project.

Thats my expirience on cf…
Hope that helps.

Regards

Carlos
