graphite powder as release agent

Hi,
I am planing on making a mould of an existing piece of aluminium which is this part :http://www.compositescentral.com/showthread.php?t=9484

The material i will use is a 2 part aluminium filled epoxy resin …reason for this is its claimed low thermal expansion .i will use it with prepreg.
So here is what i want your advise : can i aplly on the aluminium style mold graphite powder instead of release agent?

I can’t see how this would work… I use graphite powder to pigment my gelcoats. So all you’re going to do is mix the graphite powder into the gelcoat and it won’t release anything.
