going with the go ahead....

some of you know Im making 2nd Gen car parts, well after months pf research on what is available and what isn’t I think I got a plan to start with a few small items and go from there depending on how good I get at wet lay up, then maybe if demand calls for it might look into vacuum bagging later on down the road.

But to start to do a trail run this is what I think I should get

( You are greatly encouraged to say this is wrong or no here is a better idea )

Anyways heres whats on my list so far.

1-1/2oz Chopped Strand Mat
4oz E Glass parts are for interior
6oz S Glass for exterior parts

3 to 1 MEDIUM Epoxy Hardener

Tooling Gelcoat

I know there is a few more things that I think Im missing, besides the wax, got that, but any insight is greatly appricated.

Thank you All

and PVA # 10 Moldrelease

Im not sure if this is for your parts or tooling, or what your process is, but heres some things to think about:

Better off using sealer and release agent than PVA and wax. Much more reliable and easier to use with much better post demoulding results.

You cant use epoxy with chopped strand mat because it has a binder in it. Unless the CSM is made especially for epoxy application.

If youre going to use Tooling gelcoat it would need to be VE to use epoxy resin to get a good bond. PE tooling gelcoat will not work well. I would suggest rather using an epoxy surface coat for tooling if you choose to use epoxy resin. If you want to use VE or PE gelcoat then you resin is best to be the same (PE or VE).

If the parts are cosmetic and painted, no need for S-glass. It’s expensive, and saved for structures and RF transparents.
