Guys,
if I spayed a gel coat into the mold, what time I start the project to make the carbon part? When you live a finger printon it?
Thx in advice!!!

Yes, that is the B stage timing…
Like werks said.
Others like it to dry and then use spray glue. Reason for that is that if you lay the cloth wrong, re-positioning it on b-staged gelcoat has the potential to lift the gelcoat off the mold surface.
I wait until I can put a finger print in it and not have any on my finger.
I will use spray glue but mostly when I use tex and not carbon.
is this going to be a carbon part?
spray glue = aka 3m Super 77 right.
can people make a list of Spray Tach glue they use + Resin they use.
Ex:
3m Super 77 , Epoxy = Result for me looks like the 77 doesnt allow the epoxy + fiber to stick to each layer. i bend the part and it looks like the layers are seperating.
I use super 77 on all my parts buy never on the surface of the moldor gel coat. I use very little in a part. I can do about 30 hoods in one can
I use 9 different resins as well lol
thanks twill.
i think my prob is b/c im using epoxy vs. ester. the ester eats the 3m 77 =(.
who uses epoxy based resin and a tach ad. ?
Correct!!!
i use jgreers and system 3 with the tach spray. what are all your layers you are using? What materials
Right now its all fiberglass layers. what type of spray do u use?
im just using the super 77, I have used some glass that had some coating on it that the layers would start coming apart. I have about 1400 yards of it left hahahah. I got it so cheap from a company anyway. Pretty crappy stuff for what I was using it for
All my layers is 2 carbon, 1 Carbon kevlar. The epoxy is from Dow Manufactory, I think 321 model and 90% usaully infusion progress.
SOmeone try to bend your part, (only those who use epoxy) and tell me if you see the parts seperating. this is whats happenening to me =\
I doubt your delamination problem is from your use of Super 77. It’s probably from incomplete saturation of the laminate. How much spray glue are you using between layers?
i try to only do 1 pass on the fabric.
when you mean complete saturation. how do i make sure its completely through? when i took the part out. the resin was fully through. top to bottom. no air nothing. on the tips, where it folds on the flanges… its fully laminated, that area i can not take a part if i bend.
