Gas tank protector

Hello masters of composites universe:

I am planning on making a gas tank protector for a bike. I have seen a few on the web, I would like to do something similar to this: http://www.mag-knight.com/Tank%20Bra.htm

Main ideas, so far, be to pva/wax, then lay up, remove, cut to desired size, backing with a magnetic sheet in order to make it removable.

My main worry at this moment is about fitting after gluing to magnetic sheet.

All ideas & sugestions are welcome.

Thanks.

Antonio

apolo,

I hope I am understanding your question correctly…

If so, I would suggest using adhesive backed sheet wax that is the thickness of the end product (composite and magnet together). Use the sheet wax to form the shape you are looking for on your tank, then take the mold off of that.

If you need more clarification, please let me know and I can go into more depth of this procedure.

I hope this helps.

I guees it would work great, I looked for it and found it http://www.freemansupply.com/PS165RegularSheetW.htm, yes, you understandme correctly, only issue it is that I will need to look for a different option, here in Mexico I think this kind of sheet will be hard to find.

Thank you!
