Fully Enclosed (hollow) Molding/Casting? FRP

Hey guys,

I have always had a question about how fully enclosed (hollow) fiberglass parts are usually made?

Specifically, fully enclosed spoilers- How are the molds setup, and how are the parts casted?

I assume the plug is sectioned properly, and then the parts are casted from the molds seperately and then trimmed while still in the mold and then they are joined together at the seams?

Does anyone have any good photos showing the casting of a fully enclosed fiberglass/carbon part? I am more interested to see how they are made, rather than how the molds are setup- but if you have anything that would be a big help!

exactly as you have said, the parts are made in sections and bonded together to form the finished product. seams are oftern lap joints with a joggle to keep the seams flush, sometimes they are butt joints but they are not as strong and are harder to line up correctly.
