FS: Hexcel Carbon/Kevlar hybrid twill

This is pretty rare stuff, especially nowadays with the carbon shortages.
Hexcel Carbon/Kevlar twill. Pretty sure it’s 7oz/sq yd.
The best thing is that it has both carbon and kevlar in the warp and fill directions. Most hybrids have carbon one way, and kevlar the other, which sacrifices strength.

Will sell for $60/yd with a minimum of 5 yards due to cutting and rolling.
Now using a 70" wide material, so this stuff will be used less.

what do you use to effectively cut it, before and after curing? I’ve used some kevlar in the past and even with specialized scissors it was a bit of a pain. Then when trimming post cured it had fuzzy edges.

Cutting Kevlar: If you can pull some thread sections out helps but the correct scissors (has to have small sreations) is the only way.

I have found Friskar Home Depot scissors works very good for a fair amount of time…better than some $120 that I have paid before that were special for HD Kevlar.

After curing: band saw with the blade inverted.

I use the same, and the ones that have handles instead of loops on the back end. They almost look like miniature gardening shears. Nitride coated (gold in color) and serrated edge. They cut like butter.

For cutting small amount of materials, kevlar shears work great. Serrated edge keeps the materials from pushing away and snaps the fibers cleanly. Putting masking tape along long areas to cut really helps too.
For cutting larger kits of materials, it’s done on an automated cutter. Piece of cake, and perfect edges.

Keep in mind this stuff I use has both carbon and kevlar in both directions. The cheaper cosmetic hybrids have kevlar in only one direction, and therefore sometimes are easier to cut since it’s only kevlar lengthwise on 2 sides.
