Foam board barrier

I want to use some pink foam board to modify someparts I have. I know its sensitive to solvents and I want to encapsulate the foam into the part to make this as cheap as possible. I dont want to use Epoxy because it wont break down the binders in chopped strand matt (so I have heard) and of course the cost.

Its purely a cosmetic thing and I dont want to spend tons of money on this project.

cut and sand the board to shape, cover it with epoxy and let it cure, sand it and use poly and chop strand over it. Or get some urethane foam. If the piece you need is small and you are poor, find a building site using cellotex foam and pick up some scraps (ask first of course). cellotex is a foil backed urethane insulation foam board.

Some people claim you can use latex paint as a barrier but I never had any luck with it.

I just had someone mention that to me and I re-read it in the forbes book on composites.

I am going to give it a shot and see how it pans out.
