flush trimming wet or dry fabric

Often it would be nice to trim dry or wet/prepreg fabric perfectly flush with the mold. This is uncured, floppy, fabric. Not b-staged or cured composite that’s stiff.

Anyone know of a set of shears, preferably electric or pneumatic, that will do such a thing?

With pre preg I use a new sharp snap blade to cut flush. Or any scissors held the right way cut dry cloth.

Ultra-sonic fabric cutter…jump to 35 seconds in the vid for the hand held device.

I like this one…

Ultrasonic cutting = very cool.

What I was thinking of looks like a pair of hedge/pruning offset shears but much smaller and sharper for fabric. This lets you run the shears flat along the mold to trim flush in areas where a standard pair of scissors is hard to use.

Even better if the shears are powered.

And very expensive, a Dukane unit runs $5,000+

$5000? I’ll take two.

Those are real neat. I’d like to see the cut line on a single sheet of carbon fiber.
