Flow analysis software

Anyone used Simpoe works flow analysis for infusion modelling? At 1:20 there’s an option for “Fiber”…

This would be pretty useful if you could put in the different fibres and fabric constructions

Iit seems to be a tool for injection and not for infusion…

Thought it could possibly be modified…? Are there similar programs for infusion?

Yes! polyworx has, http://www.polyworx.nl/

nice software, great support. You can hire them to do the job for you too, worldwide, no project too big  (they have done the worlds largest infusions)

Thanks, ordered a demo.

Out of curiosity, is anyone here well versed in CFD? We should be able to model this, right?

CFD will work using a “porous” domain model … the issue is correlating the porosity element model with the laminate stack and the OML geometry. All woven fabrics shear when draped/deformed and this alters the flow rate in all three vectors. The simulation is adequate in flat and constant section profiles but poor/useless in high aspect or non linear geometry (Surface/Thickness/Materials)

Hmmm, yeah I see what you mean… that does complicate things a bit. I guess you would have to set up anisotropic “porous” media volume meshes layer by layer… that would undoubtedly require a little outside of the canned CFD program trickery.
