Flat Sheets

Morning guy’s

Want to start doing larger flat sheets and currently i have been using a flat bit of glass to do them, how ever have broken a couple of these no biggie as it is rather cheap, how ever the new flat sheets i want to do are about 1M x 1.5M and glass that size is rather expensive, Anyone have options on how to go about doing large sheets where i would not have to worry about glass breaking in storage?

please keep in mind price/weight of item

How do you make them? We often infuse panels this size on a glas plate but never beoke one. Do you use a release agent?

You need some laminated glass panels maybe.

Expensive new but probably very cheap second hand or so in trading pages.

Try the glass suppliers for something odd that they can’t use.

Old sliding doors are good as they come with a metal frame too.

I bought a big glass table and just released the entire surface. Not easy for storage if you don’t want a table sitting around though…

I use a tempered glass table top, like over .25". Infused large sheets on it. Never had an issues with removing panels. I usually use paste wax on the glass table, RT cure.

or maybe make a large carbon panel with core on a piece of glass, then use the tooling panel for your parts?

Breaking is more due to storage, something falling on it or something along those lines. 80% of the time i’m on my own so instead of waiting for some help i just attempt to move things myself and yeah. :frowning:

Might go the laminated route and the sliding door option sounds good as i do have some of those laying around due to house renovations.

Ive used plexiglass, not sure how it compares in price, but I just bough a 0.25" thick 3’x4’ sheet for $65 online. Total came to $90 shipped to my door.

Might be an option

Are you wet laminating or vacuum?
