flat panel question

hello everybody
I have very little experience with composites but I am trying to build a flat panel with 12oz. carbon or 8 oz. texalium for cosmetic purposes. I watched tutorial that is posted on forum and I have question weather you could apply 2 part poly urethane as a gel coat directly on a glass sheet before laying composite to avoid finnishing with a clear coat afterwards. I will have to use PU to protect the panel from UV.
Thanks for any feedback
Kris

Several guys on here have done that with good results. As always though its good practice to do a small test panel. Could save you a small fortune.

You may also want to lay your carbon down while the PU is in its B stage. As in, when you can touch it and leave a finger print, but no paint will come off on your finger.
