First large infusion, possible problem?

Hi, I’ve done a couple small infusions successfully, but last night tried my first large one. I didn’t know how much resin I needed and ended up having to mix more about 4 times and still ran a little short I think. I can see there are some edges at the flange that are still dry but I ran out of time with all the mixing I had to do. What is the best way to go about wetting out those areas? Just do it by hand?

Once your part is cured you can make bag a smaller area directly over dry area by putting tacky tape on the already cured area and refinuse. It’s not a perfect solution for structural parts due the way crosslinking works in thermoset resins but it’ll work fine for most parts I see on this site.

A new infusion. So take off the bag, flow media and peelply, apply new stuff and do a new infusion. You can also only infuse at the dry area. You will probably see it and it won’t get a nice result, but it’s the best and strongest way except for a completely new product.

Edit: as canyon told.

Thanks guys, I wet out the dry areas at the flange by hand today and I’m going to wait a couple days for the resin to cure before popping it out of the mold and seeing how it looks.

Asking for advice but doing nothing with it hehe.

I’m going to see how it looks once I pop it out of the mold and if there are dry spots I’ll reinfuse those spots as per canyons advice.

I got to infuse a very high object which could not be brought down, and did that in 2 stages. The seam was tested by a university or so, and the strength was not nearly as bad as one might imagine. I believe it had over 95% strength of a virgin laminate.
