First ever infusion parts

This is my first ever resin infusion project.
I pulled the parts out of the mold today they turned out better than I thought they would after the fiasco I had during the infusion. I honestly thought it was just going to be a learning experience on what not to do next time and I would have to scrap the parts. But to my surprise the parts are useable and will be going in my car when done.

Both parts still need much trimming. The left picture is after I sanded it with 600 grit paper getting ready for clear coat. The right one is straight out of the mold after a little trimming (still not all the way cut out) It’s going to need a small dry area filled with resin.
Darn near don’t even need a clear coat on the parts other than for UV protection.

Sorry for the bad pics but my point and shoot cameras battery has finally crapped out for good so I had to use the iPhone.

Looks great! Good work.

I learned a ton during this first infusion, I made many mistakes that I will correct on the next run.
Overall I am excited to keep going and make parts with this technique.

I also want to add that I used the MTI hose to keep doing so.

What vacuum did you reach during the infusion? More=better.

I checked it with my digital gauge prior to infusion and I had over 29" I think 29.35" or something like that if I remember correctly.

what gauge are you using?

Supco VG64S Vacuum Gauge

Just wanted to post up a few more pics of my first parts completly finished cleared and polished.

I ended up making 2 sets of these (interior mirror door panel pieces). Being my first pieces for resin infusion ever I think they turned out great.
I have learned so much already and yet just nicking the tip of the iceberg with this new hobby/business.

3 layers of 3k 7.4oz twill cloth
Pro Set INF114 Resin and INF-211 Hardener
PPG Omni clear coat

Looks great, any installed pics?

Looks great!

How did you made those holes? They look perfect.
First you drill them out, them apply clear coat?

I don’t have a picture of the these ones installed but I do have some crappy iphone shots of the other set I made installed in my car. I made 2 sets of them and have sold the ones you see above and I kept a set for my car. The set I sold turned out the best out of the two. The set I’m keeping I sanded a bit to much and got into the weave before I realized I was that deep. Lots to learn but honestly I love doing it.

Yep, drill hole then clear.

Nice job, still planning my first lay up…hoping to be as successful with my first parts as you were. Quick question; Where did you buy the ProSet?

I was right when I thought it would be for a F355:D
I can offer you a center console.

Directly from proset epoxies

You are the winner!
Do you have the center console panels or actual tunnel?

Good job Erick, you`ve already entered much of the iceberg!

The whole tunnel, also doors, sills, hoods, bumper, undercar cover, fender, mirrors…

Those are looking great Erick, not an easy part for your first go at Infusion. Very easy to get bridging around those recesses for the fixings.

Regards Warren

…is it all attached to the car still?
