Filleting wax

I’m curious what everyone is using for filleting their flanges to their plugs during mold making. I’ve seen some videos online where people are using a yellow filleting wax but I can’t find a source for it in the U.S.

I was at my local composites store yesterday asking about it and they didn’t have a good source either but did mention that you can make your own with bee’s wax and oil. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Hi bull.

I’ve always used a product called rainbow modelling clay. Very supple and easy to use.

I thought composite envisions had yellow wax , but I just did a quick search and couldn’t find it on the web page.

These guys might be able to help you out.

Freeman Supply is a manufacturer of calibrated wax if you want to go that route. Sulfur free modeling clay is easy to work with and what I usually use. I only use wax when I need to have a defined cavity such as when building a matched mold set like you’d use in LRTM.

will you be laying plies on top of the fillet?
