So I’m working on a small project and need some filament. I was thinking of gently pulling strands out from my cloth and tape one end together and use that. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. Anyone ever tried it?
Laborsome, but I see no reason why it would not work.
Husq,
Pulling out the tow from an already woven cloth is common depending upon who you ask. I agree with Herman, that it is labor intensive if done on a large production scale repeatedly, but it is common practice at certain companies.
One clean room I used to work in used it as their standard for certain pieces as they didn’t want to change the Bill Of Materials and have another item on the list. (Seemed lazy on the engineers and purchasing standpoint, but it was common practice at a very reputable company).

When normal glass, try and get a (sample) bobbin of gun roving. Will last for ages.
I would be interested to see the finished product, once the project is completed.
Went and picked up some PPG deltron DC3000. What grit should I wet sand with?
Well here is the finished job. My first time spraying
