Fibre-Kat =^-^=

Hey everyone!!

Im Keni, 26 from Australia.

I like to talk about fibreglass and usually most people aren’t interested, so i started writing about it, lol. http://glassnshiz.blogspot.com [i only just started and am writing about personal exp so go easy on me :stuck_out_tongue: ] .

I know some of my info on my blog may be wrong, anyone feel free to correct me =^-^=
this is taken from the into post

“A short history on my glassin’…

i started out helping a mate with a widebody tx3 in his garage and we built his car, started work on another mates r33 widebody [which would have been xxxxing TANK], got halfway though that [never finished cries] and started work on a set of widebody front for another mates 180sx, which people started wanting and the bodykit business took off from there. My main role was [everything exept admin lol] but primarily mould maker/maintenance/repair and parts maker/repair/finisher, however besides cranking out the parts id help dave [the other partner] with the patternmaking and design of kits and fitment… we both were pretty jack of all trades but if anything its taught us moar skills, so woo.

Other industry experience i have is… let me think lol

Quality Acoustics – spray painter and finisher [most exp with acrylics although some 2pac]

Craft fibreglass – hand laying panels for trains and buses and vacuum infusing train fronts, grinder/finisher

Fibreglass A/Asia – alot of grinding and finishing, and some mould making for various things, most random was a repair on a fibreglass merry go round horse… and various caravan interior panels [shower etc]

Talon – hand glassing kits and mould maintenance, took care of the ‘drift’ side of things as talon was mostly OEM kits

Armour – Parts for the military and armoured cars, attack panels for banks etc… Mostly carbon and Kevlar work, majority vacuum bagged/infused

Plus mate’s cars/custom work/sponsor cars/etc… Sure there’s more but that’ll do. But yeah… glassin’ since 03. April 03 to be exact  [random?]”

Now i am no longer working in the composite industry as i broke my knee [coathangared myself on a trecile a mould was sitting on] but this office work isnt fun, i think it wont be long before im glassing again. Its just nice having a job at the end of the day you can say ‘here look at my work, i made this’ instead of being just another number…

I go into too much detail with my explanations =] i love trying to teach or educate people about glass, im primarily a mould maker and even though it may take me a little longer sometimes, i am a pedantic b- when it comes to moudmaking, i want it to be perfect from the word go…

I did start a certification but didn’t get to complete it, i am always wanting to do a composites course but the closest one is about 3 hours away so i have just been buying books, educating myself online and through personal work experience, and working with werksberg online[even tho in another country JMM was/is always very supportive of people who want to learn]… i am very easy to get along and work with, however, if you continually forget to put your brushes/rollers in the acetone after a session or forget to green trim, we may have a few issues ;-]
