Fiberglass And Plexi

Hey what is the best way to embed a piece of plexiglass or resin into a piece of fiberglass… embedding it so that it is sort of a window in the plexiglass piece

confused :!:

well… say you have a wall of some enclosure, mine is being used to house a pc in my car, and i want to have a piece of plexiglass or lexan in the middle of it as a window

1 = fiberglass
2 = plexiglass

I guess there are multiple ways to do it. I would build a box to house the pc then a lid for the box. Cut the window part out of the lid and 1/4" rout the inside edges. glue the plexiglass to the back and apply fiberglass to hold it in place.

that is probally what I would do as well

I’m gonna pass you on posts EMI.

hahahah I guess that is my cue that I am on here too much and need to get back to work

work? What’s that?

sorry, but i didnt quite understand that… sounds like alot of work… isnt there a way to just us a few screws or sumthin? LoL

Just use rivets if you want. Aluminum screws would be bitching too.

sure, where there is a will there is a way. The thing is you’ll see the edges of the plexi. The way I told you it will all be flush together.

Paint a black border on the inside of the Acrylic (PMMA) sheet to hide the underside of the fiberglass part. But Polycarbonate (PC) would be a better choose.

Or you could use my way (25 years +) of flush mounted PC race windows, but if I tell you, well you know the rest…
