Fein cutting tools?

Have been using a diamond wheel in an an angle grinder, for trimming, but its pretty messy and makes quite a bit of dust. Wonder if anyone has tried the Fein tools, and if so how to these compare to diamond disc or air saw ? (cutting glass, no
thicker than 3mm)

TIA

Chris

My friend used a fein saw to cut kevlar raydome(the area around the radar ant.) I cant remember what aircraft type. He said it worked well. I didn’t get into to much detail but a raydom of any type is rather thick, around 1/4" or so. I have not used one myself.

Thanks…would have thought people on here might have been more familiar with these tools, as they look like they would be ideal for work with glass, and can double up as a sander as well as cutting tool.

Chris

YES, we have them in the classroom and highly recommend them! We had a rep. donated a couple to try out and I had prepared a HD lay up of Kevlar (hmmm…they wanted a true test…) and it cut it like so easy!

Fein Tools, 4x thumbs up!

More pictures of Fein tools and room…

Thanks, those are exactly the tools I have been looking at. Diamond cutting disc on an angle grinder cuts quickly, but I would like something with a little more control.

Wonder which of the Fein cutting blades you have found most effective on laminates?

k

What are you cutting?

Fiberglass, CF or Kevlar?

How thick?

These don’t spin like a die grinder but vibrate back and forth like a cast cutter.

I kind of like the Steel full round cutter but it depends on what you are cutting and space available…

Quite thin fibreglass (up to 3mm), with plenty of space available.

Chris

Then just the carbon steel wheel should work Fein (get the inside joke…)!

If you were here in So. Calif. area, I just have to state “Please, drop by the classroom and try it out here!”

Can you mount a collar to it so use like a router on a trimming fixture?
is there a dust collection system for it?
can you do fine detail work with this the fein .
do you recommend the multimast or the other one shown in your pics.

cutting helmets,
have a dotco router right now, cuts kevlar very easily, but I would also like something with more control
