someting in the above specs with 1/4" american threads.
i’ve checked grainger, mcmaster. another i think… any suggestions?

Seeing this old thread reminded me that I wanted to follow-up for those trying to insert threads into composite materials. There are cleated threads available from most construction supply stores like Lowes or HomeDepot. Another option that I use is a product called poly-nut thread inserts by a company named Marson. There are lised here - http://blindrivetsupply.com/searchresult.aspx?CategoryID=6 They work great and hold really well. Also, I think Eastwood Company sells something similar. Essentially, they are rivets like inserts that allow you to put threads into thin materials.
