plane weave tail, twill front upper, twill & gray texalium flame sides, carbon kevlar belly pan, and a twill weave overlay tank. Man this thing is fun.

cool, good work. I wish I could keep up with any of your guys! wanna put up some closer shots?
The parts on the bike are out of the mold no sanding no clear ect.( I still make crap molds) so they dont look very good well the tail I cleared but no wet sand to get the garage dust out and its made from 3 parts so some filler was needed for the top part (painted black line around the rear seat cowl).
I will have better pics soon.
That looks really good.
I hope I can make some parts of that caliber for my R1 someday, soon, because I’m getting anxious.
are you saying you inlaid the flames in tex or its grey paint over twill with tex lower?
If you inlaid flames in tex I wanna see that…cause you have waaaaaaaay to much time on your hands!
Its inlayed flames using the gray side out, the stuff I traded you. It didn’t realy take to much time. I will get a pic of the side panel up when I get home.
im interested in seeing it too. I have done a lot of stuff where I have made a carbon backgroung and written out stuff in kevlar or designs or logos. I know of a really easy way of doing it. I had to do a big logo 8 inch by 16 inches in a hood the other week. It was 14 letters and the logo design. did the inlay in about 4 minutes
Your parts look awesome by the way too
twill… show us a pic of it! =)
i didn’t take any pics of it but I am doing a radiator shroud right now that will have my logo and name inset in it and I can show pics of that when it is done
I used plastic wrap and super 77
yeah that is sick!
amazing job!
Very good job, keep going!!!
test fit on the race bike for the red set. Texalium and Metalcast paint from the auto parts store no special stuff just a bunch of wet sanding.
I have to fix the upper left dzuse fastener I F’ed up…
That I really like!
You sprayed red over the finished gelcoated part?
painted over the gelcoat after it was sanded with 400 grit, and I used adhesion promoter (from the same auto parts store) before the red.
The paint was a big PITA and was 6 weeks in the making (I’m not much of a painter) and it’s not 100% but I have to say its the best I have done so far. I missed the layup on some cut lines and panel to panel weave didn’t come out as planed, so I still have work to do.
That is one sick ride! Great work!
I’m trying to wrap my brain around this “inlay”… Let’s see if I have it:
Do I have it down? I can’t wait to try it!
Cheers,
Jeremy
I stick the plastic wrap to the fabric then draw the pattern on it, other then that you have it.
beauty!!!
Lovely job, but wonder if you use those plastics when the bike is raced? Be a real shame to destroy all that hard work with just a minor crash!
No, thats a street set, you cant see it in the pic but the headlight hole and mounts are there.
I was going to use it on a street bike project this winter but it sounds like layoffs are coming at work so the set is up on ebay now
