Fast Mold Tip?

I’m looking to form a rough and quick fibre glass part from an original part via a simple wet lay process.

The fibre glass part does not need to be pretty or highly finished and at this stage is purely for some development leading to further prototypes.

Question is this - is there a quick and easy method of ‘release’ that I can apply to allow me to form th e’quick’ fabricated part?

I dont want to spend too much time with wax, although a couple of coats of PVA wont take too long. I do want to retain the original part in good condition though.

I also need to ‘build up’ the original part with some additional pieces since I want to create a larger part than the original.

I was wondering if there is a quick method such as applying foil tape all over the part first and then wet laying the fibreglass??

Any thoughts?

If you really want a quick and dirty method…Saran Wrap (kitchen food wrap film, whatever it’s called i nthe UK) over the part, and then lay up on that. if you have lots of corners, maybe a quick spray adhesive or double stick tape to make the food wrap stick down to corners. Should come right off, albeit wrinkled maybe.

cling film! brilliant, thanks.

That probably answers part of the other question I’ve just posted as well!!

sheet wax with adhesive can build up a part thickness evenly. It comes in all different thicknesses. Anything over 1/8" thick may need a hair dryer or heat gun to shape to the part.

freeman supply in the US sells it… not sure who has it in the UK
