I have a complex shape i would like to make a pattern for, before actually cutting the carbon cloth. How do you guys go about making a shape pattern to trace onto the carbon fiber cloth?
We have use light weight FG cloth and tansfer that to white tile board (from Home Depot…) for a cutting templates. But make the template larger than need and fine tune it after a few parts.
GO RICKY RUDD!
or something.
HAHHA.
anyways, i’m going (to) (H)ome (Depot) now. (…heee, hee…Ricky’s team mate is from here and we have watched him race up the ladder to get where David is now!)
make the intern do it.
HAHAHHHA!!
uh, I mean. I used kraft paper, layed it the best I could inside the mold, and cut the edges. I always cut the cloth a bit bigger, just in case I messed up the template.
Used to trim pre-preg with the plastic still on it, after I layed it in the mold. Took off the plastic carrier film, and made metal/plastic molds when going into production.
Something else i can buy from HomeDepot!! woo hoo haha. Just kidding. I’ll try some 3 ounce fiberglass cloth, or maybe run to the fabric store and buy some cheap thin fabric. Excellent thought about cutting the actuall piece larger than the pattern.
